I am the founder and driving force of Socialkraft, a unique support service for individuals with special socialization needs.
For the past 20+ years, I have worked with toddlers, children, teens and young adults experiencing special needs in a variety of settings including the Meyer's Boys and Girl's Club, Portland Parks and Recreation Inclusion Program, Portland Public Schools, Portland Early Intervention Program, Therapy Solutions for Kids, Social Skills NW with Dr. Marie Mc Mahon and Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp as well as numerous area pre-schools, elementary and middle schools. I am a proud board member of the Autism Society of Oregon.
In addition to my individual and school supports, I specialize in the creation of visual supports such as Social Stories™, picture exchange systems (PECS), choice boards, and play schedules. These tools can help increase communication, decrease challenging behaviors, establish routines, and illuminate the subtleties of social situations.
My intervention strategies infuse a combination of techniques including:
The social thinking work of Michelle Garcia Winner
RDI (Relationship Development Intervention)
Pamela Wolfberg’s Integrated Play Groups model
TEACCH (structured teaching)
Floortime (Greenspan’s work)
ABA (Specific to learning readiness)
I live in Milwaukie, Oregon, with my husband, teenage daughter, one giant dog, a frisky cat and three happy chickens.
